Theme Decorating
Theme decorating is a popular and inexpensive alternative option. The focus of a theme could be a hobby, event, or favorite collection. Many women decorate their kitchens using a theme such as a rooster or apple decor. Using curtains, place mats, dishes, towels and oven mitts within the theme easily brightens up a kitchen. A child’s bedroom could highlight a princess theme for a girl or a Star Wars theme for a boy.
Many teens mount posters and pictures of their favorite musical or sports idols, thus creating their own bedroom theme. Men have often used theme decorating when they established their own so-called man-room in the basement.
Men typically set up a bar and a television area, the bigger the TV the better. Their theme might include sports, NASCAR racing, or an electric train set reminiscent of their childhood. Some men have quite extensive train sets that have become more popular in recent years.
Although many themes are contained in one area or room, theme decorating can include the whole house. Depending on what part of the country someone is from, their theme may reflect their present location or somewhere they would like to live such as a beach theme or rustic cottage look.
Theme decorating often includes holidays such as Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter. Theme decorating can be even more temporary with special birthdays or other events where the person decorating goes all out for the special occasion.
Bathrooms often have a theme such as a nautical look that may include the shower curtain, bathmat and towels, window curtains, accessories, and even the toilet seat.
An easy theme for a living room, dining room, or bedroom is to add a decorative wallpaper border around the room. Some people add borders even when the walls are painted.
Theme decorating usually doesn’t involve major renovations although some collections can quickly become rather extensive. The great thing about theme decorating is that it almost always mirrors the hobbies and special interests of the inhabitants.
